Call for Workshops

Workshop proposals are welcome before November 17, 2018.

Thematic workshops organised by experts in a particular area constitute the core of the conference.
We invite proposals for workshops. Workshops are intended to provide a forum for the discussion of a specific topic from the field of Computational Science between an international group of researchers.  Each workshop should have at least 8 paper presentations. The workshop organisers are responsible for advertising the workshop, reviewing and selecting the papers.
One registration fee waiver will be granted to workshop chairs that attract 9 or more accepted and registered papers (not counting the chairs’ own papers).

Papers accepted to the Workshops will be published in the ICCS 2019 Proceedings. After the conference, some papers presented at the Workshops will be considered for publication in appropriate journals as special issues, with the Workshop organisers as the guest editors of the journal.

Typical topics for workshops would be:

  • Bio Computing
  • Bio Complexity
  • Computational Brain Dynamics
  • Medical Computing
  • Social Computing
  • Computational Finance
  • Computational Economy
  • Computational Geophysics
  • Atmospheric and Oceanic Computational Science
  • Agent-Based Simulation
  • Scientific Visualization
  • Complex Systems Simulation

As the conference theme this year is “Computational Science in the Interconnected World”, papers highlighting the role of Computational Science in an increasingly interconnected world will be particularly welcomed.

Proposals to organise workshops need to complete the workshop submission form, which will require the following information:

  • Title of the workshop
  • Name, affiliation, mailing address and e-mail address of the proposers
  • Names of at least three PC members for the workshops
  • A description of the topic of the session (not exceeding 100 words) plus a short description on how the session will be advertised so as to ensure a sufficiently wide range of authors
  • A description of how the workshop will contribute to the field of Computational Science
  • A brief introduction of the proposers, explaining their qualifications

IMPORTANT NOTE
We ask that prospective workshop (WS) organisers only submit a proposal if they fully understand what they are undertaking.
The main responsibilities are: inviting program committee (PC), advertising the WS, inviting authors, coordinating the review process in the EasyChair system (3 reviews per paper), advising on acceptance, suggesting a WS programme, communicating with the authors and ICCS organisers, appointing session chairs, and coming to the conference in person to lead the sessions.

WORKSHOP PAPER SUBMISSION
Papers for workshops should be submitted using the EasyChair submission system. Deadlines for workshop papers will in principle be the same as for main-track papers. The Workshop organisers will be required to use the Easychair paper submission engine and review the papers on basis of the same criteria as those in the main track. Decision on paper acceptance should be made before 10 March 2019.

The final acceptance of a workshop will be based on the quality of these papers, the coherence of the workshop and degree to which a broad audience is addressed.
