ICCS 2009 Travel & local information

Baton Rouge is the capital of Louisiana, with a metropolitan area population of more than 800,000. It is the home of Louisiana State University (LSU) and located on the Mississippi River, about a one-hour drive northwest of New Orleans. The region is famous for its blues and jazz music scenes, its culinary delights, nightlife and Southern and Cajun heritage.

If flying into Baton Rouge:
The Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center offers free shuttle for its guests.  Please contact the Hilton to make a reservation. Taxi services will cost approximately $20.00.

If flying into New Orleans:
Reliant Transportation Group (reservations must be made ahead of time). New rate is $116 one way. The website URL is: http://www.relianttransportation.com/ .  The reservation telephone number is +1 (225) 336-4814 x 224.

Other options include taxi and rental car. Without traffic, it is a little more than a one-hour drive from the New Orleans Airport to downtown Baton Rouge. A cab ride should cost on the order of $120. Please confirm with the driver before the trip.

Parking:
Valet parking is available at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center for $15.00 night or $8.00 for the day.  There are also many parking lots located downtown for $5.00/day.

Driving directions from the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport: (8 miles)
Take I-110 South to Laurel Street Exit. Head West towards the Mississippi River. Turn left on Lafayette Street. The hotel is located on the right, 2 blocks down.

Driving directions from the New Orleans International Airport:  (70 miles)
Directions: Take I-10 West through Baton Rouge and take I-110 North to North Street. Head West towards the Mississippi River. Turn left on Lafayette Street. Go 2 blocks and the hotel is on the right at 201 Lafayette Street.
