Dinner at the StrandPauli | 30 June – 19:00
After a day filled with the latest and greatest in Computational Science, we go to the StrandPauli – a very popular beach club and bar located on the Elbe River, in the very heart of Hamburg’s port, and one of the best places for a Summer evening in the city.
The ICCS dinner menu features a classic BBQ (incl. sides, dips, and dessert). Free-flow soft drinks, lemonade, beer, house wine & prosecco, and hot drinks will be served throughout.
How to Get There
The conference sessions on 30 June end at 17h30m, giving you 1.5 hours to make your way to the StrandPauli, which is plenty.
If you are going straight from the conference to the dinner, you have several options:
Option 1 (the least walking): take bus line 1 (direction Altona) at DESY’s main entrance. and then either exit two stops after, at Trabrennbahn Bahrenfeld, or go all the way to Altona. Then take bus line 2, direction U S Berliner Tor (Beim Strohhause), and exit at St. Pauli Hafenstraße. Then walk 4 mins to the StrandPauli beach club.
Option 2 (a little more walking): walk <10 mins from DESY to Trabrennbahn Bahrenfeld and then take bus line 2 as explained above.
Option 3 (still a little more walking, but pleasant): take bus line 1 as in option 1 and exit at the Othmarschen train station. Then get train line S1 (direction Poppenbüttel / Hamburg Airport (Flughafen)) and exit at Landungsbrücken. Then it’s a nice 10-minutes walk to the StrandPauli.
If you are somewhere else in Hamburg, just use the HVV planner to figure out the best connection.
We will be waiting for you right in front the StrandPauli at 19h00m. Please wait for us at the door, as we will have to check your name on the dinner list. Dinner starts at 19h00m and ends at 22h00m.
The Hamburg public transportation network has regular connections until midnight, and after that several night lines too, giving guests ample time to return to their accommodation.

Notes
- The conference dinner is only included in the PLUS registration package. If you registered with a BASIC ticket, then dinner is not included.
- Participants who registered with the PLUS package need no further action, as there is no physical ticket. Names will be
checked upon entrance to the StrandPauli.
